This month has been all about one thing for us: change. I’ve begun packing, which seems to be a very daunting task. We are officially packing up and moving out next Friday. a week from tomorrow. I still can’t believe it’s here so soon. I tried taking a self-portrait around a mess of boxes, with my expression portraying my thoughts about this move. After snapping a couple photos, I decided it can’t be done. It’s impossible to show in one photo all the mixed emotions that are present in me during this season of change. However, overall I feel an overwhelming sense of peace. Without a doubt, God has orchestrated every detail in this move to fit together so perfectly.

We thought our biggest challenge would be to find a renter for our condo in Indianola…one of the first families we contacted came to visit a few days later and our place is a perfect fit for them. Unbelievable!
When we went to Kansas City to look at homes, and the first day ended up to be very discouraging. We drove by the homes we had schedule appointments to tour, and with one glance down the street, we knew we would never live in such run-down neighborhoods. We thought we would have to rent an apartment…until we stepped into one quaint yellow home in Roeland Park, and it was an immediate “YES!” to us. A gorgeously re-modeled old home with all hardwood floor, lots of windows, a large kitchen (a big must for Grant and I!) and to top it off, a large fenced-in back yard for Max to run around. And it comes complete with a lawn mower.
There were a few other people who also applied to rent this home, and we were the lucky ones to be chosen as the next renters! God has been SO good to us, that even though it is sad to move, and starting my business up there will be hard work, I can’t help but be terribly excited to know what’s in store for us.
I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of a couple KC photographers who have so warmly welcomed me already – thank you again and again! It’s people like you who make this move so much more exciting!
To add to the changes, we also decided it was time to trade in my old Taurus and we got a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland! After driving the same car since the end of high school, it is so great to have something different!!
Here are some outtakes from my task of taking a self-portait that captured my thoughts about moving.
