WARNING: You are about to read a Looong post! I had such a hard time choosing only a few photos to post from this wedding…so I decided not to narrow it down to only a few! Katie & Tyler met in college (at Ashland University), and got married in a small town near Columbus, Ohio. This was my first time in Ohio, and I really enjoyed it.
The day of wedding festivities began at 8am with the girls’ hair appointment. Here are some getting ready shots:
This “Clip-It” Nail Salon was in Katie’s church! Yes, really, they have a hair salon (among many other businesses) in their church as an outreach! Crazy!

This was Katie’s Mom’s first look at her hairstyle – do you think she liked it?!!

Next, we went to a home where everyone got all dressed up. I love how this shot of the dresses turned out with the light from the window coming in. The bridesmaid’s dresses were yellow, but in front of this window they looked translucent!

As you can tell, I couldn’t get enough of these dresses in front of this window. Katie’s dress was SO beautiful; I had never seen one like it. If you look closely, you’ll see that the bod of it has faint roses all over! How unique is that?! Katie said she thought it was the most ugly dress at first, because of the roses, but now that’s her favorite part about it!

The bottom of this dress was HUGE, and it was so heavy! I had to jam my head on the floor to get this fun angle!

Simply gorgeous detailing.

Here is their “first look”! The look on Katie’s face is absolutely priceless – I don’t think her smile could get any bigger! I love how this couple had such pure joy, which was contagious to everyone who was a part of their day!

Next was the hardest (yet so beatiful) experience I’ve had to photograph so far. About a month before the wedding, Katie’s Dad was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He was immediately hospitalized, and went through treatments of both chemo and radiation. During those weeks, they would watch him improve immensely…and then get worse again, over and over. Katie asked me to pray for strength for the family, because it was getting so hard to be strong in the midst of this roller coaster. A week before the wedding, the family decided to do the wedding ceremony in Bill’s hospital room, since it was clear he wouldn’t be able to walk Katie down the aisle. As we waited in the lobby to go up to his room, I was struck by how terribly odd it must’ve been to be joyfully complimented by both nurses and patients over and over at how beautiful of a bride Katie was…even though it had to have been one of the most difficult things for her. (That was a really confusing sentence, but hopefully it made sense!) I was amazed by Katie’s joy, strength, positive attitude, and love for her father. The ceremony was beautiful. Her dad was on 100% oxygen that day, and was really swollen due to his kidneys failing. But it was obvious that he fully understood what was taking place, and that he had a very deep love and admiration for his beautiful daughter and new son-in-law.
If you are a person who prays, please remember to lift this dear family up in prayer.
Katie got to spend some time talking with her dad before the rest of the family came in. These were a few precious minutes they spent together. It was a joy to see Katie spin around to show her dad the back of her dress, and her tiara, and I had to actively battle tears so I could see through my camera. I will never forget those moments.

Ok, I absolutely hate to do this…but I just realized what time it is! I’ve got a senior session tomorrow, so I will have to do a “part two” on this wedding. You’ll have to check back, though, because the stories from this day have only just begun! Stay tuned!
Goede Nacht and Slap lekker!
(Goodnight and sleep well in Dutch!)
