Kansas City Wedding Photographer: Hilary & Clinton!

On June 4, 2010, Clinton and Hilary proclaimed their vows to each other in a courtroom before moving to South Korea together. You see, Clinton enlisted in the Army right after high school. When Hilary heard he was moving away, she just had to talk to him…because she knew there was “something” about this guy. After he left for Basic Training, months went by before she was overjoyed to get a letter in the mail from him! They communicated through letters for a while, until Clinton was allowed to have phone conversations. Hilary felt her heart growing more and more fond of this man, even though thousands of miles kept them at a distance. After basic training, Clinton was stationed in South Korea, and Hilary continued to feel God was orchestrating something wonderful in their relationship. In February, She went to visit him in South Korea, and Clinton said to her, “I have something in my pocket I think you want to have”…and he popped the question! Of course, since Clinton was stationed in Korea, and they didn’t know when he would be able to come back to the states for a wedding. This made planning very difficult, to say the least. They choose to say their vows in June, and in November, Hilary was able to move to Korea to live with Clinton, after a couple years of their long-distance-only relationship!

Exactly one year later, they celebrated their love with a GORGEOUS wedding in Des Moines! I first met them when I arrived on Saturday, and immediately felt like I had known them for a long time…they are just that sort of people! I am so blessed to have been able to get to know them and their sweet familes! Before the photos, I need to give credit to the vendors who worked to make this day possible:

Hilary’s gown: Bridal Boutique East Village Des Moines

Bridesmaid dresses: White House Black Market

Men’s attire: Skeffington’s

Videographer: I Do Films, Chicago

Cake: Ames Hyvee

Reception Venue/Caterer: Hotel Fort Des Moines

Wedding Coordinator: Kristi Jackson

Producer of video presented at reception: Oceanwide Studios

DJ: John Bartlett of remixdjs.com in Kansas City

Make-up Artist: Mandy Bartling of Serenity Aveda Salon in West Des Moines

Hairstylist: Jenifer Truitt & Tiffany Lynch of Serenity Aveda Salon

My jaw dropped when I first stepped into the grand ballroom. Talk about beauty!
Weren’t her flowers incredible?!
These yellow and blue shoes were the inspiration behind Hilary’s wedding colors!
Hilary and Clinton chose to not see each other until the ceremony, so we did as many individual photos beforehand!
My second shooter, Jennifer Weinman, suggested this fun photo below, and I love how it turned out!
I still can’t get over how beautiful the bouquets were!
Hilary, you are so stunning!
I loved that Hilary chose to do a “first look” with her dad! It was SUCH a sweet time.
This room so perfectly fit the style of Hilary’s wedding, with the blue, feminine wallpaper. I don’t use off-camera flash very much (apart from the reception), and these portraits of Hilary just might have inspired me to use it more often!
The groomsmen and bridesmaids rode over to the ceremony location (Water Works Park) in separate limos, and Hilary and her dad were escorted in this delightful old car!
How sweet is this piano? They found this treasure on craigslist!
You two are so adorable!
Perfect light for group photos:
A couple photos from the reception…
I had never seen this done before, and I LOVE this idea! Hilary & Cliton had a video created of them telling their story in the sweetest way! Some parts were them together, and for other parts they told their side of the story individually. I must confess…I got a little teary-eyed because their story is so touching!
I’ll end this VERY long post with a photo to make you laugh…these two little flower girls chased this cute little fella, laughing and screaming, and he ran away from them! This happened over and over and over! What fun!
Congratulations again, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis! Your day was picture-perfect, and overflowing with love and joy! Best to you as you transition into your new home in Georgia!

I LOVE the photos, Allison. They are just beautiful. I love the detail shots of the reception site! I’ve already looked through them twice and I’m trying to decide which ones to hang on the wall! They are ALL so great! I can’t believe you got Clinton to smile, teeth and all :) I’m definitely going to have to frame the one of just him. I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out. You are so talented!
