#60…Check!

Number 60 on my 101 in 1001 goal list…Check! It was my goal to create some sort of art photo book with some of my favorite images from my year in Albuquerque, and it turned out to be a gorgeous 14×11in. book! It a book I will always treasure because it is filled with so many memories from the year. It has more than 70 photographs that depict the beauty of New Mexico, and each time I flip through this book, I am so thankful I had the opportunity to spend a year there. I am excited to announce to those of you in Albuquerque that I am heading your direction in less than a month! =)

If you have interest in purchasing this Art Book, email me at allison@allison-mariephotography.com and we can discuss the details.

New Product

Introducing a fun new product for this year!  I had orignally pictured this product for wedding clients, but I love it for seniors and families as well. This is a 20×20 or 30×30 canvas gallery wrap, designed with 30-40 of your favorite images from your photo session. It’s a great way to showcase  your photos!

This first example is from Erika’s senior portrait session (view her session here):allison-marie-photography-des-moines-wedding-photographer51The gallery wraps are 1 1/2 inches thick:allison-marie-photography-des-moines-wedding-photographer71

And one of the best parts about gallery wraps is that they come ready to hang. No need to save up for a very expensive frame, just put a nail in the wall and hang your gorgeous piece of artwork!allison-marie-photography-des-moines-wedding-photographer61Here is the gallery wrap Allison and her family ordered (see the images from their session here). I love the blend of colors and how it speaks their family’s personality to well!allison-marie-photography-des-moines-wedding-photographer41

Save the Date Cards

If you are planning a wedding that is more than 4-5 months out, save-the-date cards are a perfect way to announce your wedding plans to friends and family. They can either be ordered as 4×6 thick cards, or as magnets. Allison & Brandon ordered these cards, and I love how they turned out!

February 6, 2010 - 7:05 pm sara sprecher - I just got one of the cute save the date cards. Came to see who you were. :) Want to have family pics taken for sure! Your pics look great!

Any Suggestions?

Hello! I am on the hunt for a good point-and-shoot camera. I hardly take photos at events anymore because it’s silly to whip out an enormous professional camera to a casual event…and for my “little”  point-and-shoot, it’s way too massive to toss in a purse! When I bought it years ago,  it was the top one on the market, and now it’s plain ‘ole big and bulky!

Does anyone have suggestions on a decent quality, compact camera? Add a comment and cast your vote!

And because a post is always better with a photo, here’s one of my faves. I took this at Snow Mountain Ranch in Colorado last month:

January 6, 2010 - 8:50 pm Kimberly - i have a canon powershot sd1000 and i love it! it's 7.1MP with a 3x zoom lens, and it takes decent video too. it's cute and sleek and tiny and clean ... pretty much awesome.

December 31, 2009 - 11:09 am Karen - I use a Sony Cybershot for my point and shoot because I don't like to take out my big camera either! I love the quality photos it takes and it is so small and compact and I can bring it anywhere!

December 31, 2009 - 8:02 am Gail - My hubby and I inherited a Canon PowerShot from his mom last year and we LOVE it for little stuff. I highly recommend that line! :)

December 29, 2009 - 8:28 am Cindy - I actually just bought a new point and shoot - the Canon Powershot. I've been really happy with it so far, and it has 12 MP and 4x optical zoom. And that's about the extent of my camera knowledge!!

December 28, 2009 - 10:23 pm Betsy - I only know this information because my brother, who over researches his purchases, has been looking at getting a digital camera. The main thing he has found is that with the basic cameras, the only brand that still has a view finder (as well as the screen on the back) is Canon. Which I suppose doesn't make much difference if you're never going to shoot outside in broad daylight. Hope that helps.

Exciting new DVD packaging!

I searched high and low for a way to package my wedding DVDs, and I finally came up with a way that perfectly fits my branding and style! I found these little green envelopes at Pure Paper, a paper store in Des Moines’s upscale East Village. A company called Envelopments creates these sweet envelopes. In my packaging, I include a document that suggests where to get quality prints and a brief tutorial on cropping photos to the right size so nothing important gets cut off. With a handwritten note inside and  brown & green ribbon on the outside, my DVD packaging is complete!untitled-11dsc_4329a

December 2, 2009 - 10:18 pm Denise Photography - This is so Fabulous!!! I have been wanting to figure out how to make a cute photo on my DVD's and I don't know how. If you wouldn't mind giving me your secret, I would forever be thankful!! ;) The envelope is such a perfect fit! I need to search for a local store in my area. Love your work!

Brandon & Allison: Engaged!

dsc_5455I knew from the moment Brandon & Allison stepped into my studio for a wedding consultation that I would love working with them! Allison and I seem to have so much in common, which makes working with them so fun. They have known each other for many, many years, and have been dating the past 6 years!!! Wow! They have a crazy amount of joy being together; it’s obvious that they are a perfect fit for each other. Enjoy their photos!dsc_5471dsc_5499dsc_5508dsc_5517aI love this - Allison cannot contain the love she has for her honey, as it’s written all over her face!dsc_5522Talk about a classy couple! Albums, Albums, Albums!

As I promised yesterday, I am posting some photos of the albums that arrived yesterday. I am thrilled with how my 11×14 album turned out! Check it out!

This is a 34-page, 11×14 Flushmount Album with a metal cameo on the front. These albums have a lifetime guarantee - they will last forever!! The 2-page spreads could have anywhere between one and 15 photos, so the design possibilites are endless!

Here are some photos of the classy 5×4 Purse Album I offer. It’s  a perfect album to throw in your purse so you can show off your photos at any time!

In each of my wedding collections, I include a proofbook of all photos from the day. Here is what a proofbook looks like (note that this is a senior proofbook, and a wedding one will be a lot thicker because it will have a few hundred more photos!):allison-marie-photography-des-moines-iowa-wedding-senior-photographer-wedding-albums4

And lastly, here are all three albums together, so you can see the differences in sizes:
