Queensberry DUO sample album

In a few weeks, I will have this gorgeous album in my hands! I ordered a 14×11 DUO album through Queensberry, which is a luxurious album that has printed pages mixed with matted prints. I love how the matted pages can be designed in any way (not just your traditional one photo centered on each page), and can even be flush with a side of the page. I adored Jacob & Maureen’s lovely wedding day, so I can’t wait to display their images in this gorgeous album!

A really great, unique feature of this type of album is that I can choose to design it with some wing pages. This means that in the design below, the 1/3 of the page on the right is actually flipped open, and when it is closed, it has an image on the closed flap. I love how this creates a fully one-of-a-kind album for my wedding clients!
Don’t you just love their sparkler exit?! Such a great idea!
I can’t wait to post photos of this album when it arrives; stay tuned!

I really like the detail shots. The black and white image coming out of the church also looks great with the back light.

Tasty Tuesday: Pear Salad

This is my tastiest Tasty Tuesday yet, friends! I stumbled upon this amazing recipe on pinterest the other day, and I’m so glad I did! It’s fresh and quick, and has the most unique pairing of ingredients. You’ll find the recipe after the photos:)

Pear Roquefort Salad, adapted from Verses from my Kitchen, a most beautiful food blog that I am totally inspired by! Check it out!

Ingredients:

  • 2 pears, thinly sliced (using a mandoline..I didn’t have one, so mine were cut imperfectly!)
  • 1/2 apple, thinly sliced (using a mandoline)
  • 100 grams Roquefort (I used Blue Cheese), crumbled
  • 1/4 cup watercress leaves
  • 2 tbsp. pistachios, roughly chopped
  • sea salt and cracked fresh pepper, to taste
  • FOR THE DRESSING:
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp. white wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 garlic, turned to paste (I used garlic powder)
  • 1 cup Roquefort cheese
  • 2 cranks on the pepper grinder

Prep:

  1. Using a mandoline, thinly slice pears and half an apple. Place in a bowl of water with a few tablespoons of lemon juice to prevent browning and keep aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine all the dressing ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  3. For plating, stack the pear slices one atop of the other, with a couple apple slices added in. Dress with watercress leaves and chopped pistachios over top and along the sides and crumble Roquefort cheese over top. Lightly pour dressing over top and around the stacked pears. Season.
  4. Serves 2.

February Self-Portrait

In the midst of birthday celebrations, recovering from a nasty cold and a few wedding consultations, February has been all about preparing for our new house. We had  no idea the process would be so long and stressful, but the finish line is in sight! On Wednesday, we will close on our house and a week later, we will say goodbye to our funky little rental home, in the pic above! We are SO excited to have a house that we can take care of and truly make our own!

No deep thoughts from this gal today…my brain is still a little foggy from the exhaustion of having a cold!

In only a few days we will have the keys that unlock this lovely front door!:)
