In front of the lens!

Last week Grant and I had our engagement photos taken by the talented Anna Jones of Anna Jones – Art of Photography. I met Anna through Bella Baby Photography, and she’s been a superb help for me at a few weddings this summer. The last time I had “real” photos taken of me was as a high school senior – over 7 years ago, so it felt totally different being in front of the camera rather than behind it!

If you’ve read any of the story about Grant’s elbow, you’ll probably look at these photos in amazement! At least I do anyway! Each day, I am stunned by his progress and healing. He has gained back significant range of motion, more than was originally predicted. He had his one-month post surgery appointment with the surgeon this week, and the surgeon is even amazed by how well he’s doing! As Grant was leaving the clinic, the physical therapist he initially talked to saw him and his mouth dropped, because you can hardly tell Grant has anything wrong with his elbow! The therapist said he’s never seen healing like that, and asked Grant what his secret was. Ha! Grant and I laughed at what a good sign that was for Grant, and how that was a bad sign for the physical therapist…he shouldn’t need to be taking tips of therapy from a patient! I love Grant’s response when people ask him how he’s doing so well: 3 things – Pain, Perseverance and Prayer. =)

IIn this first photo, you can see the spot where the fractured bone had punctured through his skin! Crazy!

This next one below is one of my favorites! I love our expressions; it’s very “us”!
Check out the gorgeous bling Grant put on my finger!!!
And my favorite thing. Hearing Grant sing and play. Nothing compares to the joy that brings me!
Another favorite. Grant singing with deep passion while I give him a little lovin’!
Thank you Anna for gorgeous photos!

P.S. I know what you mean my boy plays the guitar as well, even though he thinks he sings bad (pfff whatever) it is the sweetest sound to me :) <3

Kristi & Tyler | Des Moines Wedding Photographer

Perfectly Balanced.

The one thing I remember hearing most often from various people last Saturday was how Tyler & Kristi couldn’t be a better pair. They balance each other out perfectly! Their wedding day was gorgeous, and they were overflowing with joy to be married! If you don’t remember their fun engagement shoot, check it out as a refresher before you look through their wedding photos!

When I arrived at their home in the morning, I first took some detail shots of Kristi’s beautiful gown and accessories:

Here is a shot of her something old, new, borrowed and blue!
I decided I LOVE it when brides choose to get ready in their home versus in a dark, cluttered room in a church basement. There is so much more natural light and beautiful details to work with! Tyler & Kristi just built this sweet home a year ago; it was so clean and fresh!
Kristi’s twin sister, Kat, did a wonderful job on her makeup!
They choose to see each other before the ceremony so we could have some time for portraits. Here is the groom as he anxiously waits for his bride!
This cool spot was across the street from the church…I couldn’t resist taking them over there!
Kristi, did you know you could be so fierce?! =)
I love this one!
Mmmm, so sweet!
Here is Tyler as he first sees his bride walk down the aisle:

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Akins! Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day!

A surprise from target

I’ve received a few boxes at my doorstep lately…and these aren’t client orders but wedding gifts! I had no idea guests would order things off our registry and mail them to me rather than give them to Grant & I at the wedding. This is fun! So this big target box arrived today:

I opened the box, and here is what was inside. Hmmmmm……
To Jenny & Jonathan from Fabio & Rachael?! Umm, Target….I think you got things a little mixed up! There was another envelope in the box with the gift receipt in it, which had a copy of what the gift tag above was supposed to say:
Hmmm! I wonder whose gift got the message from my guests! I wonder what will be inside the box?! Could be a fun surprise!:)

I wonder if it is from THE Fabio!! How many Fabio’s can there be in this world? Hubba.

Target is right on target……not! How interesting! Almost as interesting as the wild floral capris, size 28 (yes, 28!) that I got from a catalog company!
